I recently caught up with Arsonists' front man Q Unique at one of the final in-store events at Fat Beats NY (R.I.P.) for a quick interview, and the emcee had quite a bit to say. In this two-part interview the emcee speaks about everything from the direction and style of his latest album, Between Heaven and Hell, his musical transformations and growth, keeping featured artists within his family, music projects outside of hip hop, reuniting with his group at Fat Beats, and more.

Ashanti Performs Live For Her Home Town

You've got to love surprises. While shooting photos and video and writing a concert recap for my freelance journalism job, I was (as well as the entire town) surprised with the announcement that Glen Cove native Ashanti would be accompanying Marvin Floyd and Friends to perform a few songs for the community that she was a part of for most of her life. I must say it was a pleasant surprise to see the absolutely beautiful songstress perform songs from "Happy" to "The Way That I Love You" and more, hyped up by deejay Smooth City, in front of her home town; a community that from the reception she received, obviously adores her. I've been a fan of Marvin Moore a.k.a. Money Harm from Ghetto & Blues (formerly Product G&B) for quite some time now; from "Maria Maria" and "Dirty Dancin'" with Carlos Santana to "Cluck Cluck," "Here We Go" with Khadeja, and my personal favorite, "Feel It" with EMC, the man makes great music. With that said, its pretty obvious that getting to shoot his show at the Crazy Donkey was definitely a good time.
