Three-quarters of the slaughter took the S.O.B.’s stage on the anniversary of iconic Brooklyn emcee Notorious BIG’s passing. Royce Da 5’9”, Crooked I and Joe Budden appeased a packed crowd of avid, rowdy fans, many of which were donned in the ever-popular Slaughterhouse t-shirts designed by Sneaktip Clothing. West coast veteran Crooked I was the first Slaughterhouse emcee to take the stage, along with members of the California collective, Horse Shoe Gang. During his set, the Long Beach native performed, while blindfolded, “Tequila, Vodka, Henny” an ode to alcohol over the Lloyd Banks and Juelz Santana instrumental, “Beamer, Benz, or Bentley.”...

Due to the 9-to-5 and lovely NYC traffic (sarcasm is such a great thing), I missed a majority of the Eternia set (still mad today), but I did manage to take some photos of all the other acts of the evening. Check out the video (with music accompaniment by Donny Goines).

KRS-One, Donny Goines, Eternia and more will be performing at Southpaw in Brooklyn, NY this friday, January 29. Doors open at 8 p.m. and tickets are $15 in advance/$18 at the door.

In our nation's capital, Long Island natives Dashah and DJ Pause, collectively known as Fresh Vetz, will be performing in a benefit show for the Haiti earthquake victims. Paired with a hard-hitting instrumental produced by Australian born-and-raised producer M-Phazes, the self-proclaimed “legend in the making” provides a lyrical slap in the face of non-objective media outlets, fake tough-guy rappers and industry lames.

Last week the “Love Helps: Haitian Earthquake Relief After Work Mixer” at the Stay Lounge, NYC, raised over $3-thousand for the victims of the recent 7.0 earthquake that ravaged the progressing third-world country. All the proceeds raised at the event were donated to Yele Haiti, a foundation started by Haitian-American artist, Wyclef Jean. Many artists within the hip-hop community were in attendance, which included Kidz In The Hall, Donnis, Donny Goines and Mysonne.

Sullivan Room NYC was the host to Style Warz, a showcase of music and art from some of today’s flourishing artists and musicians, presented by DJ Prince. The show featured live performances from up-and-coming emcee Donny Goines, M1 Platoon and Breakfast Program. On the one’s-and-two’s all night was Hollywood Holt. Contributing artists for the event included Darold Delaney, Harlem, NY artist Royce Bannon (whose art is also featured in the January/February 2010 issue of The Source magazine) and live painting by Liz Stewart.

Style Warz @ Sullivan Room Tonight

Style Warz, presented by DJ Prince, is a “celebration of creative culture,” to bring together multiple genres of art and music. The event will take place tonight from 4-12pm at Sullivan Room (between West 3rd Street and Bleecker Street). Art on display is provided by Harlem, NY artist Royce Bannon, Elizabeth Stewart and more. DJ Hollywood Holt will be providing the music all night as will feature performances from New York emcee Donny Goines and M1 Platoon.
